Khao Soi Dao is a source of many streams and waterfalls such as Nam Tok Khao Soi Dao. This 15 level waterfall is very beautiful and suitable for relaxing. It is also an important bird watching site for Indochinese montane birds. There are over 50 confirmed bird species, including blue rumped pitta; mountain fulvetta; a darker, local species of silver pheasant; Asian fairy-bluebird; short tailed or eastern green magpie; and chestnut headed partridge. Khao Soi Dao protects the largest population, maybe 1,000 pairs, of pileated gibbon from the clutches of cutesy, ignorant, affluent pet owners who, alas, are not an endangered species.
