Bangkok to Vientiane

Tuesday: Departs 14:00 Bangkok, Hualampong. In the afternoon the E&O departs Bangkok. Relax in your private cabin or have a visit to the sumptuously decorated bar cars or saloon car. While travelling into Northeastern Thailand the traditional afternoon tea is served and later in the evening a delicious dinner is served. In the meantime your steward transformed your compartment into a comfortable bedroom, but why not enjoying some cocktails at the bar car before retiring?

Wednesday: Arrives 09:00 Hin Dat. Visit of the ancient Khmer ruins in Phimai. Before the Eastern & Oriental Express arrives at Hin Dat, the breakfast including freshly baked croissants is served in your compartment. From Hin Dat the tour for Phimai starts which is one of the most important monuments of the old Khmer kingdom in Thailand. After visiting this World Heritage Site a delightful lunch is served on board the E&O. Departs 11:30 Hin Dat. Arrives 15:30 Kho Yai. Tour to vineyards including tasting of New Latitude Wines. In the afternoon the train arrives in Khao Yai, where you disembark for a visit of local vineyards and a tasting of the New Latitude Wines. Dinner and overnight on board. Departs 18:00 Kho Yai.

Thursday: Arrives Nong Khai. Arrival in Nong Khai, transfer by coach across the Friendship Bridge to Vientiane.. In the morning after breakfast the E&O arrives in Nong Khai, where some coaches are waiting to take you over the Mekong river to Vientiane, the fascinating capital of Laos.
